At Merchants Bank we are not just interested in the community for business reasons -- we are based here and therefore have a vested interest in seeing the area grow and thrive. But beyond that, we take the time to really get to know our customers. At Merchants Bank we put more priority on the viability of your dream -- rather than what you have as current assets. And even more importantly, we'll do everything possible to give you a chance -- even if your circumstances aren't ideal. Come by and let's talk about what Merchants Bank can do for you. You'll notice the difference. |

Theresa Burns
"Merchants Bank loaned me the money for equipment.several years later, they helped me finance a building."
Merchants Bank Customer: Theresa Burns
Owner of Photography By Theresa. |
"I was always interested in owning my own photography studio but I was working with another photographer. Then one day, I decided to go for it. I went to Merchants Bank as a single woman with an idea. My plan was to do wedding photography on the weekends and I needed to borrow money for the equipment. The people at Merchants Bank had faith in me and made the loan even though I had no collateral to put down.
Things went so well, I was able to finance a home (of course through Merchants Bank) and do photography full time. Then came the challenge. An opportunity for me to buy a building to use as a studio.
I called Merchants Bank and they worked me in that day. A lot of quick decisions had to be made and they helped me through every one of them.
I know Merchants Bank has accounts that are much larger than mine. However, if you're one of their customers, they'll go out of their way for you.
From the start, Merchants Bank has been behind me. And I have to say, the confidence they have always had in me is worth even more than the money they loaned me."

Chris Borden
"I graduated from Pharmacy School with a plan. Merchants Bank helped me turn it into a business."
Merchants Bank Customer: Chris Borden
Owner of Borden Family Pharmacy |
Chris: "I had only been out of pharmacy school for less than one year and when I purchased this business.
I got to know Steve Glasscock years earlier when I was in school because he came into the pharmacy where I worked. I started telling him of my plans before I even graduated. He listened and made suggestions.
Then when I got out of school I brought him my proposal. I had a co-signer but no income, very little credit history and student loans that needed to be paid back. But again Steve listened. He didn't belittle my age and took me seriously. In fact, as excited as I was, I was also scared. Steve helped me feel secure.
I really enjoy internet banking but I have always been even more impressed with the customer service.
There was a time recently that Merchants Bank made a mistake on my Money Orders. I didn't find out until I needed them. Their people took responsibility and within 48 hours I had the new Money Orders ready for my customers.
People say I sell prescription drugs. I don't agree. I provide care for people who need prescription drug services. Merchants Bank does the same thing. They don't just
offer accounts -- they offer care for people who need banking services. You can't get the
care I offer in my business at the large pharmacy chains. And, you can't get the
Merchants Bank level of customer service at a branch office of a large bank."

Perry Warren
"What I like best is that Merchants Bank is made up of local people who are concerned about local needs."
Merchants Bank Customer: Perry Warren
Owner, Country Furniture Basket & Gifts |
" We have two businesses -- a retail store and a factory that produces furniture. Merchants Bank helped us with both businesses from credit lines to financing.
Our factory is out-of-town and when we first got started, people from Merchants Bank made two trips to see what was going on. I know they wanted to check on their investment, but they always made me feel like they were interested in my business.
Merchants Bank has continually helped us with projects and growth. They take an interest in what we produce. And they want for us to be successful.
What impresses me about Merchants Bank is that it's a local bank that's made up of people who are interested in growing the community. Since they don't have much turnover in staff, you get to know the people and I believe that means you'll be treated better.
I also like the way the buildings are always so well maintained. Right now they're adding service lanes so we can get in and out faster. And, they keep up with the needs of the community by adding new branches.
From the front door up, everyone at Merchants Bank is always friendly -- that means a lot in a small community."

Marshall & Barbara Brannan
"The fees were extremely high at our other bank. When I asked the manager if he could do anything, he laughed."
Merchants Bank Customers: Marshall & Barbara Brannan
Owners of a General Nutrition Centers (GNC) Franchise |
Marshall: "I had a 30 year relationship with my other bank -- 10 years of which as business customer. Since they charged for every item we withdrew or deposited, the service charges were amounting to nearly $40 a month.
I spoke to the local president about my concerns regarding the exceedingly high fees. I asked him if anything could be done about it -- he laughed. He told me, "That would never happen."
So we moved to Merchants Bank and can now avoid the high fees. They provide us with all the services we need to operate a successful business. We have several accounts with them including both personal and business loans. In fact, we just closed on a loan a few months ago. Everything went very smoothly because they were so prepared -- there were no surprises at closing.
At Merchants Bank we know if we need help with anything, we can talk directly to the person we need to talk to -- even if it's the president of the bank. There are no committees that have to meet when you need a loan and everyone is helpful and friendly.
It was interesting that the guy who laughed at me, called me later to try to get my business back. I said, "No thanks. Merchants is now my bank."
